ZIMBABWE Football Federation for Amateur and Social Leagues (ZIFASOL) president Francis Zimunya has hit back at Zifa following his organisation’s ban from conducting any football activities by the national governing body.
Zifa wrote to Zimunya last week indicating their request to be part of the Zifa affiliates has been turned down and they are banned from organising any football activity.
However, in response, Zimunya said they will not stop their activities and the Zifa ban is tantamount to violating the national constitution and is in violation of Freedom of Assembly as enshrined in constitution.
“You have closed the door for ZIFASOL to be in the Assembly without following the proper procedure as enshrined in the Zifa Constitution as well as without giving the reasons for such a decision that affects thousands of people that Zifa has failed to reach out to for the past 20 years or more. May we remind you that every child has a right to education and skills training,” said Zimunya in the letter.
He highlighted that theirs was an independent organisation hence their activities cannot be stopped by Zifa.
Zimunya indicated they are ready to approach the Ministry of Sports and the Sports and Recreation Commission for arbitration.
Zifa also accused Zifasol of holding coaching courses without approval, which they said are worthless.
The football mother body urged leagues and clubs affiliated to Zifasol to approach Zifa bodies to join the national association.
