Dynamos and head coach, Saul Chaminuka have been summoned to appear before a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL)disciplinary committee on July 8 following the abandonment of their league match against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium on Sunday.
The match came to a premature end in the 75th minute when referee, Qedisani Dirwai ruled that Dynamos captain Emmanuel Jalai had fouled Oscar Bhebhe inside the penalty area and awarded a penalty to FC Platinum.
Dynamos players refused to continue playing protesting the penalty.
The DeMbare squad subsequently walked off the pitch leading to the game’s abandonment when the score line stood at 1-1.
The PSL today said the club is being charged for “causing the abandonment of a match and ungentlemanly conduct by the team’s technical officials.”
Adding to Dynamos’ woes, Chaminuka has also been individually summoned to appear before the Disciplinary Committee.
His charges are severe and include “disturbing the normal proceedings of a match, causing abandonment, ungentlemanly conduct and issuing reckless statements to the media likely to bring the game, sponsors, the League, ZIFA, CAF or FIFA into disrepute.”
The incident at Mandava Stadium has sent ripples through the local football fraternity, raising questions about match integrity and the conduct of players and officials.
The outcome of these disciplinary hearings could have significant implications for both Dynamos and Chaminuka, potentially leading to fines, suspensions, including losing three points to FC Platinum.
Another case in point is the Scottland and Chicken Inn match which was called of by Dirwai after he awarded the Scott Sakupwanya-owned outfit penalty at the death of the match and the Gamecocks players walked off the pitch in protest of the spot-kick.
The matter is also before the PSL disciplinary tribune and is supposed to be heard tomorrow (June 26 2025).
