Former Australian Under-20 international Ian Prior was the star of the show as the Zimbabwe Senior Men’s rugby team, the Sables, thumped Morocco 43-8 to book a semifinal spot in the 2025 Rugby Africa Cup in Uganda.
Prior, who is currently representing Zimbabwe, put up a player-of-the-match performance with 23 points, including five penalties and four conversions in the Sables first match.
The Sables’ impressive display was marked by four tries from Tapiwa Mafura, Dylan Utete, Edward Sigauke, and Trevor Gurwe.
Morocco struggled to cope with the intensity of the match, and their inability to adapt to the physical demands of the game ultimately cost them.
The win sees Zimbabwe progress to the semi-finals, where they will face the winners of the match between Uganda and Kenya on Sunday, 13 July.
With two wins away from securing a spot in the 2027 Rugby World Cup, the Sables will be confident to grab the world cup slot by winning the final.
