DESPITE most clubs in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League seemingly hyperactive in the mid-season transfer window, struggling Highlanders have been quiet with interim coach Try Ncube, referring all questions to the team’s management.
Last week, Ncube indicated Bosso was in search of one or two strikers, one creative midfielder as the Bulawayo giants have struggled to get the desired goals but today when quizzed if any new players were coming in during the window, he said the issue was administrative.
“That one is an administrative question. Maybe they can help me,” Ncube said.
Further pressed if he had furnished his bosses with a list of players on his wish-list, the gaffer just said: “No answer.”
The Bulawayo giants have of late been firing blanks, with the last scorer being Mafious Chihweta when they beat Manica Diamonds 1-0 at Sakubva Stadium under sacked coach Kelvin Kaindu on June 18.
They played a goalless draw with Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium, the last game for Kaindu and Ncube lost the next to MWOS 1-0 before another stalemate to strugglers Kwekwe United on the road in Gweru last weekend.
Before Manica Diamonds, they lost 2-3 to Simba Bhora with goals coming from Never Rauzhi and Melikhaya Ncube.
Highlanders’ leading scorers are Reason Sibanda on five goals with Brighton Ncube on four goals.
Melikhaya is on two goals and all their other scorers are on a goal each, making up their 18 goals.
The leading scorers in the league are Billy Veremu of MWOS and Washington Navaya of TelOne, with 10 apiece.
Highlanders are back home at Emagumeni this weekend to Green Fuel, who have also struggled in the league.
