FC Platinum hike charges, Musona to headline Mandava clash

FC Platinum have hiked gate charges for the high-profile Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) clash against Scottland FC at Mandava Stadium on Saturday to be headlined by former Warriors’ skipper Knowledge Musona.

The championship-chasing Zvishavane-based side has been given the green light to increase the gate charges by PSL to US$5 for the rest of the ground, $10 for VIP grandstand and $20 for VVIP bucket seats with the VVIP directors pavilion to be accessed by PSL VVIP accredited card holders and invited stakeholders.

FC  Platinum requested the review of gate charges.

“We refer to your letter dated July 29 2025 requesting an upward review for all categories: entry gate charges for your Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Scottland
FC on Saturday August 02 2025. Your request has been approved. In this regard, this match will be treated as a high-profile match and the PSL expects all the necessary safety, security and service protocols associated with a high-profile match to be fully activated,” PSL acting chief executive officer Rodwell Thabe said.

The major highlight of the game will be Musona, who Scottland FC unveiled on Monday afternoon at halftime during their game against Yadah FC at Rufaro Stadium.

The Warriors’ striker returns home after a 17-year illustrious professional football career that took him to South Africa, Germany, Belgium and Saudi Arabia playing his last for Saudi outfit Al-Okhdood and has opted to wind up his career in local football.

Its Musona’s first taste of local top football as he joined South African giants Kaizer Chiefs from Aces Youth Soccer Academy in 2009 before the flight to Europe and the Middle East in 2021.

“It feels great to join Scottland. I have been playing internationally for the past 17 years and as I wind down my career, I have made up my mind, it’s time to go back home,” Musona said.

He joins fellow Warriors’ colleague Khama Billiat at the flamboyant Scottland FC, who are also gunning for their maiden PSL title in their debut season at the top and recently brought in another Warriors’ striker Terrence Dzvukamanja, Namibian Moses Vareta, Malawian Khuda Myaba and winger Mafious Chihweta from Highlanders.

Musona started training with Scottland today and had his papers sorted on Wednesday in time before the close of the mid-season transfer window business.

Scottland closed the gap on log-leaders Simba Bhora to one point after beating Yadah on Monday and they are now on 43 points as the reigning champions, on 44 points, host Chicken Inn at Wadzanayi also on Saturday.

The Norman Mapeza-coached FC Platinum, the only team yet to lose a match in the league so far, has risen steadily to the fourth spot on the table with 40 points have a game in hand and is definitely in the race for the honours.

MWOS, who spent the better part of the season at the apex of the log standings have been dislodged to the third spot with 42 points and take their fight to Harare on Saturday against troubled Dynamos while Ngezi Platinum Stars with 38 points on position five, stalk Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

TelOne, who have put up a formidable display so far in the league, with 37 points in the bag, sitting in the sixth spot, host struggling Manica Diamonds at Ascot on Saturday.
