FORMER FC Platinum general manager Denzil Mnkandla has officially been appointed Highlanders chief executive officer with effect from today, taking over from Brian Moyo, who was suspended in April over allegations of fraud in April.

Moyo was suspended and subsequently resigned, was arrested and his matter is being dealt with in the courts of law.

Kindman Ndlovu, an executive committee member, has been acting in that capacity.

Highlanders confirmed Mnkandla today.

“Highlanders Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Denzil Mnkandla as the new chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Mnkandla, a football administrator with a wealth of experience, has previously served in various administrative roles at FC Platinum. We welcome Mnkandla to the country’s oldest, most followed and supported football team,” Highlanders said in a statement.

Mnkandla penned a farewell later to FC Platinum yesterday, quitting the former champions after nine years of service.

“After nine remarkable years with this great institution, the time has come for me to bid farewell. It is with a mix of pride, gratitude, and a touch of sadness that I announce my departure from FC Platinum. This club has been more than just a workplace — it has been a home, a family, and a place where I have grown both professionally and personally. I joined FC Platinum with hopes and dreams, and I leave with treasured memories, deep friendships, and immense respect for the people I have worked alongside,” Mnkandla said.

He added: “Over the years, I have had the privilege of witnessing and contributing to our shared successes, overcoming challenges, and building something truly special. I am deeply thankful for the trust, support, and collaboration that I’ve experienced throughout my time here. I owe a special thank you to the Presidium, Executive, players, technical teams, stadium staff, supporters, the Zvishavane community and every individual who has been part of my journey at the clubAlthough I am moving on to pursue a new opportunity, FC Platinum will . always hold a special place in my heart. The lessons I’ve learned here and the bonds we’ve formed will stay with me forever.
As I turn this page, I carry with me the spirit of Pure Platinum Play, The African Dream, and the pride of having been part of such a distinguished organisation. I will continue to support the club from afar and follow its progress with great interest.”
