AFTER winning the Chibuku Super Cup twice on the trot, defending champions, Dynamos have the inglorious task of having to kick off their defense of the country’s football premier knockout competition in the preliminary round.
DeMbare take on Yadah on Wednesday at Ngoni Stadium in what will be a longer route if they are to defend their trophy.
Dynamos are struggling with their form this season and sit second from bottom on the log with 19 points. For most football fans, they are unlikely to defend the cup with their woeful form.
Triangle take on Kwekwe on Thursday at Mandava Stadium in the other preliminary round match.
The winner between the Dynamos and Yadah will face Simba Bhora on Saturday at Wadzanayi while the team that triumphs between Kwekwe and Triangle is up against last year’s finalists, Ngezi Platinum at Baobab on Sunday.
In other Chibuku Super Cup first round matches, MWOS squares off against Caps United at Ngoni on Saturday with Telone up against Bikita Minerals at Ascot and it will be the battle of miners at Mandava with FC Platinum taking on Manica Diamonds.
Scottland and Greenfuel face off at Sakubva on Sunday while two matches penciled for Nyamhunga have been postponed as the stadium will be used for Heroes Day celebrations.
The postponed games are the clash between ZPC Kariba and Chicken Inn and the match between Herentals and Highlanders.
