Bulawayo Chiefs reduced the gap between them and log leaders Nkayi United to just one point after edging Zebra Revolution 1-0 at the Chiefs Village yesterday afternoon.
Amakhosi Amahle kick started the second half of the season on a high note after finishing the first half of the season with an identical victory over the same opponents at White City Stadium.
Former Bulawayo City striker Anesu Saiti’s 12th minute strike was all John Nyikadzino’s men needed to subdue Amadube Amahle.
Chiefs moved to 40 points from, just one point behind Nkayi United who were held to a goaless stalemate by Hwange side Blackrock at Luveve Stadium.
On an afternoon where Daniel Ndlovu, the Nkayi gaffer walked away with the coach of the month accolade for the second time on the trot, his team struggled in front of goal, missing gilt edged opportunities in the first half.
Nkayi though remain unbeaten in 11 matches, having last tasted defeat on the 25th of May against Hwange at the Colliery Stadium. They have only suffered a single defeat throughout the season.
At the Colliery, third placed Hwange turned on the power as they thrashed Mainline 4-0 at the Colliery Stadium.
Chipangano moved to 35 points to remain within a striking distance of the leading pack.
New signing Sean Chabika, Marcelline Mlilo, skillful Mongameli Tshuma and Toto Banda were on target for the coalminers who are six points behind the log leaders.
In other results, Bulawayo Warriors failed to capitalise on Nkayi’s slip up as they were held to a 1-all stalemate by Vic Falls Herentals College at White City Stadium.
Warriors moved to 32 points from 18 matches.
