THE Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) today announced its selection strategy for the U17 boys national team, which will represent the nation at the upcoming COSAFA U17 Boys Championship.
The tournament is scheduled to be held in Harare, Zimbabwe from September 11 to 20, 2025.
In a press release, ZIFA stated it has appointed a team of experienced coaches to lead a nationwide talent identification and assessment program.
The appointed coaches are Thulani Sibanda, Norman Edward Taruvinga, Backlyfield Chivenga, and Jatson Maposa.
This coaching team will conduct a nationwide tour from August 18-20, 2025, to assess players who have been shortlisted for the U17 Boys squad.
The selection process will prioritize a player’s technical ability, tactical awareness, physical readiness, and mental fortitude to compete at the highest level.
ZIFA emphasized its commitment to building strong and competitive national teams through the implementation of transparent and merit-based selection processes.
The association is hopeful that this new approach will lead to a successful showing at the COSAFA championship.
