Highlanders legend, Madinda Ndlovu has embarked on an ambitious path to nurture emerging talent from outlying areas with the creation of a foundation.

The initiative, under the newly created Madinda Ndlovu Foundation aims to fish out talent from rural areas and also act as a vehicle to keep ensure young people stay away from drugs and other vices.

The Foundation is set to host a 3-team juniors tournament  tomorrow at Ascot in Bulawayo as part of its talent identification programme.
The under-13 tourney will see select teams from Gwanda and Lupane squaring off against the Highlanders in a round format with games kicking off at 9am.

Ndlovu said he had an opportunity to visit Gwanda and Lupane where he managed to interact with football administrators in the areas leading to the invitations.

“I was invited to football events in Gwanda and Lupane after which I decided to invite young players from the two places to come and play Highlanders as part of the Foundation’s programme.

“My passion has always been with emerging talent and the creation of this foundation will enable me to fish out talent both in Bulawayo and also in marginalised areas,” he said.

The former Highlanders player and coach said he invited several coaches to the event to give them a chance to scout young players, particularly those from Lupane and Gwanda.
He said plans are underway to give the visiting youngsters a chance to watch Highlanders take on Yadah tomorrow at Barbourfields.
