Highlanders coach Hendrikus Pieter De Jongh has called for support from everyone associated with the club as they take on Simba Bhora on Saturday at Wadzanayi Stadium, hoping for a positive result in the relegation race.
Bosso are uncharacteristically embroiled in a battle for survival with three matches to go. De Jongh wants everyone to pull in the same direction.
“We need to do it together. This means that in every game, we need to make a call that every game is a final. We need a hardworking spirit and to play for the badge. We have to do it together. We need everyone – players, supporters, staff members, office, everyone – so that we get the three or four points out of the remaining games,” said De Jongh during the club’s presser ahead of the Shamva trip.
According to De Jongh, three or four points will suffice for the club, which will take them to 40 points. On Saturday, they face an uphill task against defending champions Simba, who are coached by a former Bosso player and coach, Joel Luphahla. Bosso have never won in Shamva. In the reverse fixture, Bosso lost 3-2 at Barbourfields Stadium to the second-placed side.
Odds are firmly stacked against Bosso, as De Jongh has only won one league match since taking over. He has only lost once to FC Platinum, and the other three matches have been draws.
Bosso will bank on the experience of goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda and the fighting spirit of Andrew Mbeba and Darlington Mukuli.
However, they face an exciting Simba Bhora outfit that boasts the league’s best midfield. The likes of Butholezwe Moyo, Emmanuel Ziocha, and Junior Makunike, who are all in the running for the Soccer Star of the Year gong, have been the mainstay of the club. Luphahla even has the luxury of benching talented players such as Donald Mudadi and Blessed Ndereki in midfield.
