SIDELINED Warriors midfielder Marshall Munetsi could leave the English Premier League and bounce back to the French Ligue 1, if news from France is anything to go by.

According to L’ÉQUIPE, Munetsi, a former Reims player in Ligue 1, appears to have not won the faith of Wolverhampton coach Rob Edwards who replaced Vitor Pereira last month.

“Marshall Munetsi, Wolverhampton midfielder and former Reims player, could leave the Premier League this winter due to a deteriorating situation since the change of manager at his club. Several French clubs are monitoring the situation,” L’ÉQUIPE, a French sports publication, is quoted.

The publication states: “The Zimbabwean international (34 caps) is indeed sidelined at least until Boxing Day and his team’s trip to Liverpool following a hamstring injury, but the Welsh manager doesn’t seem to be counting on the midfielder.”

L’ÉQUIPE says the obtaining situation has given unnamed French clubs a keen interest and Wolves might consider a loan movement for the gritty midfielder, who moved to England in February.

Munetsi played six years for Reims, who grabbed him from South African giants Kaiser Chiefs.

His vice-captaincy at the Warriors was handed to Scottland FC’s Godknows Murwira after Munetsi was dropped from the Warriors Africa Cup of Nations squad due to injury.

His withdrawal from the national team has sparked so much interest and criticism on Zifa and Warriors coach Romanian native Marian Marinica from Warriors’ fans after the player indicated he was fit to play.

However, Zifa has defended its position to drop the influential player.
