$300 000 boost for Bosso

Benjani Mwaruwari

Highlanders hsve received a $300 000 boost from Sir Wicknell Chivayo as part of preparations for the coming season.

The donation comes a day after the club unveiled Benjani Mwaruwari as the head coach.

Announcing the sponsorship on Facebook, Chivayo said the money “is intended, among other things, to contribute towards the sign-on and ANNUAL salary of the new Head Coach, the settlement of any outstanding player arrears, and the signing of new players who will strengthen the squad for the upcoming season”.

Highlanders had been reeling from a player exodus with the club failing to retain players and losing several players that included goalkeeper, Raphael Pitisi and defender, Arthur Ndlovu to other teams in the Premier Soccer League.

The funds are likely to bring relief to the club as they make preparations for the 2026 season, a year in which they are turning 100 years.

With Highlanders having survived relegation on the final matchdays, the cash is expected to change player recruitment and positively influence the signing of capable players.

Chivayo expressed his delight at the appointment of Mwaruwari as head coach adding it was high time the club has focused on engaging local coaches for the post.
