FORMER champions Ngezi Platinum Stars brush aside their midweek defeat to Chicken Inn and look forward to collecting maximum points against MWOS back home at Baobab Stadium on Sunday.

There is no rest for the two sides as Ngezi Platinum travel back to Mhondoro from Bulawayo where they lost to the Gamecocks on Wednesday while MWOS are also coming from Norton where they played Caps United.

Ngezi Platinum coach Takesure Chiragwi, accepted defeat to Chicken Inn but with reservations over some decisions by the match officials, who he rather said are better placed to make judgments on situations inside the pitch.

“We re-group because we have a game that is very close, in two days, we are playing against MWOS; so we just need to be very strong enough to make sure we can take the positives, which is how we played, creating chances, achieving the position, pressing, good organisation in defence.
“I think we did everything. We dominated the whole game. Unfortunately,We conceded in a very sad manner, but that’s how it is in football. You really need to be strong, especially playing away from home. You really need to be very strong, but that’s how football is all about,” Chiragwi said.

He added: “If you saw how we played, we tried to make sure we could make some quick changes so that we reserve energy considering that we are also travelling a long journey and we put that into consideration. So we just need to be strong mentally, and then we make sure we can come back strong playing at home and try to regain the points that we have lost.”

It has been a bag of mixed fortunes for Ngezi Platinum, who won their debut league title in 2023 and have only won five of their 16 matches in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with seven draws and four defeats, sitting on position nine on the table with 22 points.

Other exciting encounters on the cards at the weekend are Highlanders taking on Chicken Inn at Barbourfields on Sunday while FC Platinum host Dynamos at Mandava on the same day.

Simba Bhora, fighting for a stranglehold at the top of the log-standings with MWOS clash with Yadah at the Heart also on Sunday while Scottland FC lock horns with TelOne at Rufaro on Saturday.

After MWOS, Caps United, who appear to have turned a leaf, following the takeover by coach Ian Bakala, host Kwekwe United at Rufaro on Saturday.
