Zambezi Cheetahs Arrive in Mauritius, Ready to Take on Africa’s Best



The Zimbabwe Senior Men’s 7s team, the Zambezi Cheetahs, have arrived in Mauritius ahead of the 2025 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens Cup set for Saturday and Sunday.

The team is geared and ready to take on the best teams in Africa, with a strong 12-man squad that blends experience and rising talent.

Coach Ricky Chirengende expressed his confidence in the team’s abilities, saying, “It’s been a long time since we assembled a squad this strong.
“We’re going out for big prize.”

The Cheetahs will face tough competition in Pool C, taking on Tunisia, Mauritius, and Madagascar. However, the team is well-prepared and focused on achieving a top finish, which could secure Zimbabwe a place in the World Rugby Challenger Series and reignite their Olympic dreams.

The travelling squad includes some of the best players in the country, including stars from the Sables. The management team, comprising Head Coach  Chirengende, Team Manager Tafadzwa Mhende, and Physiotherapist Thelma Musingwini, is well-equipped to guide the team to success.
