Bosso 90 coach Melusi Sibanda has stalked flames, ahead of their week 11 fixture against the championship-chasing Hwange at White City Stadium this afternoon in the Southern Region Soccer League, declaring that Chipangano won’t get the maximum points on a silver platter.
Speaking after their narrow 1-0 defeat to Blackrock on Sunday at Cinderella Stadium, Sibanda believes his team has gelled and is now playing some exciting football.
“We conceded a goal too early against Blackrock, which affected our rhythm, but the boys played well,” he said. “Even the Hwange community appreciated our performance. We will carry that momentum into our next fixture against Hwange. It will be a tough match, but we will give it our all. If they want to win, they will have to work hard for it because my boys are ready. We will fight to ensure that we don’t lose two matches in a row.”
Bosso 90 were impressive in May, with Sibanda narrowly missing out on the Coach of the Month award due to a technicality. They won three matches and drew one, while the winner – ironically Sibanda’s opponent today, Rodwell Dhlakama – won all four matches.
Bosso 90 will bank on striker Mthabisi Ncube, goalkeeper Romeo Zimba and midfielders Curtis Mangurenje and tearaway winger Ayanda Mkhwebu. On the other hand Chipangano will hope that the exciting duo of Merceline Mlilo and Mongameli Tshuma bring their A-game to Bulawayo.
Hwange will enter the match bruised after being shocked 1-0 by Bulawayo Warriors at Chakona Stadium last week. They will be seeking to bounce back as Bulawayo Chiefs reclaimed top spot in the promotion race following their 0-0 draw against Mainline last Sunday.
Chiefs take on Imbizo at the Chiefs Village in a match they are expected to win. New coach John Nyikadzino will take charge of Amakhosi Amahle for the first time this season.
Chiefs and Hwange are currently tied on 20 points. Any slip-up by the two teams could be detrimental, as three teams are just a point behind them. Nkayi United, Casmyn, and Blackrock all share third position in what promises to be a competitive season in the SRSL.
