Highlanders Athletics Club have stepped up preparations for the Highlanders Half Marathon scheduled for October with the opening of an online registration portal.
The race will be held on 5 October at Highlanders Sports Club with athletes competing in the 21km, 10km and 5km races. The event will also include a Zumba session.
HAC chairman, Lawrence Phiri said while last year’s run only had physical registration, this year they have introduced online registration to ensure participants experience a seamless registration process they can do in the comfort of their homes or workplaces.
“Online registration is now part of the wider valuable experience for athletes the world over as it ensures participants can register within minutes wherever they are without any hassles of having to go and look for a physical form. Simply click on this link https://tally.so/r/wz6L10 to register.
“Last year we had a lot of complaints with people struggling to register and based on those complaints we came up with an online portal which we believe will make the athlete’s experience more fun,” he said.

Phiri said they are targeting 400 participants this year and are confident the online registration will entice more people to take part in the race.
He said companies willing to partner with the club in hosting the race are still welcome as they seek to create a memorable race.
Phiri said they will be introducing prizes this year as they incorporate professional athletes and make the race bigger.
“Last year we only had a fun run which meant there were no prizes but this year with the introduction of the 21km race we are certainly going to have prizes on the offing and we have also included the wheelchair category,” he added.
