Zifa president Nqobile Magwizi has rallied Zimbabwe’s under 17 national team as they kick start their campaign in the Cosafa Championships, saying they are the future of the country.

Zimbabwe face Mozambique in the first match today at Ngoni Stadium.

Speaking after watching them go through their final paces yesterday, Magwizi urged the nation to support the boys during the tournament.

“I want to encourage all Zimbabweans to stand behind the boys as the 12th man and ensure that as they play, they know they’re not just playing for themselves, but they’re playing for each one of us,” he said.

Coach, Thulani Sibanda will be hoping to lead the boys to glory as they begin the campaign on home soil.

Placed in Group A Zimbabwe will battle against Eswatini in the second group matches followed by a clash with Comoros in the battle for a place in the semifinals.

The top three teams will qualify for the Caf under 17 Africa Championships that will act as the Fifa under 17 World qualifiers.
