Johnson faced 108 deliveries, while Schadendorf needed only 46, clearing the ropes six times and striking eight fours.

In reply, Lions collapsed to 114 all out, offering little resistance as Brandon James and Wallace Mubayiwa each claimed three wickets cheaply.

However, Mpofu stepped in again by dismissing the last two batters within five deliveries to give Queens the tightest of victories.

At 183 for three in the 38th over they appeared to be poised for victory, but then three wickets fell quickly and the remaining batters failed to keep up with the required run rate, and their overs ran out with Rimuka one run behind, yet with three wickets in hand.

Eastern Titans won by five wickets

A fine innings of 92 by Nigel Bonyongwe swept Eastern Titans to a five-wicket victory over Chiredzi at Masvingo Sports Club on Sunday, in spite of a good all-round feat from Tendai Chisoro.

Chiredzi began with an opening partnership of 50, but slumped to 87 for five before the middle-order trio of Calvin Mubvute (40), Derek Sadoki (30) and Chisoro (41 not out) brought a recovery to a respectable total of 230 all out.

Clive Chitumba began the Titans reply with 44, but the match-winner was Bonyongwe, who paced his innings well to score 92 off 120 balls, with a six and 11 fours.

He received excellent support from Takudzwa Nyamugure with 57 not out, and they added 135 for the third wicket to take the score to 218 before Bonyongwe was out.

Remarkably, he was the first victim of a hat-trick by Chisoro, who then dismissed Definate Mawadzi lbw and bowled Spencer Magodo with his next two deliveries.

He had the fine figures of three wickets for 20 runs off his nine overs, but by now Titans were unstoppable.
