Herentals Football Club has been fined US$3,000 after pleading guilty to violent conduct while two senior security officials, Paradzai Afa and Tairos Ngoma, have been banned from performing officials duties in Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches for three seasons.
According to a PSL statement issued by communications and liaison officer, Kudzai Bare, Herentals FC pleaded guilty to breaching the PSL Rules and Regulations after one of their security officials assaulted a football fan in the VVIP area while another assaulted a police officer following an arrest for violence after the match.
The incidents took place during a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Caps United FC played at Rufaro Stadium on 13 September 2025
“In delivering its judgment, the Disciplinary Committee expressed concern that Herentals FC has become a repeat offender, frequently appearing before the committee on charges related to violent conduct. The Committee further noted that the previous sanctions imposed on the club and its officials have not been effective in deterring further misconduct, particularly by the same individuals Mr Afa and Mr Ngoma,” read the statement.
In addition to the fine and bans imposed on Afa and Ngoma, Herentals will play its next three home matches behind closed doors, with only accredited personnel permitted to attend.
PSL said these sanctions take effect from Matchday 32, beginning with Herentals’ home fixture against Yadah FC.
