Hardrock FC on the Brink of Promotion After Vital Victory

By OnSport Reporter

Hardrock FC moved within touching distance of promotion to the top flight with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Chapungu United at Ascot Stadium this afternoon in the Central Region Soccer League.

Ugandan international goalkeeper Mathias Kogonya proved the unlikely hero, converting an 85th-minute penalty to seal the crucial three points. The result was compounded by second-placed Sheasham’s 1-0 defeat away to West Nicholson, opening a four-point gap at the summit.

Hardrock now sit on 82 points, while Sheasham remain on 78. With only two matches remaining, Hardrock have all but sealed their promotion, having cleared one of their final significant hurdles in Chapungu.

The Run-In:

· Hardrock (82 Points): MSU (H), Dulibadzimu United (A)
· Sheasham (78 Points): Dinson Mvuma (H), Shabanie Mine (A)
